The University of Minnesota Office of Information Technology is putting the finishing touches on a new Tech Stop facility in 50 Coffey Hall, which will provide similar services to the current location at 101 Coffman Memorial Union on the East Bank. Tech Stop offers a convenient place for students, faculty, and staff to take their ailing personal computers for help. Services include walk-in assistance with e-mail, Internet password changes, Symantec Anti-Virus software, network driver updates, and general "how do I get started" questions.
Vendor-certified OIT staff can also provide software and hardware diagnostics, installations, and hardware upgrades and repairs for a fee.
Tech Stop also distributes software, offers technology seminars, and provides information about cell phone and Internet service providers.
The Tech Stop website will soon be updated with hours, services, and other information about the new location in Saint Paul.
