Library resources for faculty and staff
University faculty and staff members have access to a wealth of Library resources at the University of Minnesota. In addition to the general U of M Library resources, many subject-specific resources areas of expertise are available. Some of the services, tools and specialty libraries include:

  • Try Libraries OneSearch to search many, but not all, of the University Libraries' databases, indexes, e-journals, web resources, and catalogs. 
  • RefWorks is a web-based citation manager that allows the creation of your own databases of citations. There are many RefWorks Workshops offered by Library staff.  
  • AgEcon Search is a free, open-access repository of full-text scholarly literature in agricultural and applied economics, including working papers, conference papers and journal articles
  • Need a film or video for your class?  Search Finding Videos to see the available options.
  • Tell your students about Assignment Calculator a tool that maps out steps to complete an assignment.
  • UThink is a list of blogs available to faculty, staff, and students at the University of Minnesota, and are intended to support teaching and learning, scholarly communication, and individual expression for the U of M community.
  • Map libraries include:
    •  the John R. Borchert Map Library, located in Wilson Library on the West Bank campus, one of the premier map libraries in the country;
    • the Science & Engineering Library, also located in Wilson Library, which features USGS topographic and geologic maps; 
    • Magrath Library, on the St. Paul campus, which has USGS topographic maps of Minnesota;
    • the Forestry Library, also on the St. Paul Campus, with maps related to forestry and related topics;
    • and the James Ford Bell Library, in Wilson Library, which has early maps from the period 1400-1800 related to the history of European expansion.
