| Welcome to the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) computer labs section. This Web site provides an overview of the facilities and policies governing CFANS student computer lab use. If you have any questions or comments regarding the college student computing resources, please send an e-mail to cfans.help@umn.edu.
New Print Conservation Program In an effort to conserve resources and improve services, CFANS will implement a Print Conservation Program in CFANS student labs beginning in Spring Semester 2009. The college's goal is to employ sustainable printing practices and provide excellent services at a small cost to the student.
Student Technology Fees The CFANS Information Technology Committee includes representatives of undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff from CFANS. One of the Committee's responsibilities is to make recommendations for the allocation of the technology fees collected from all undergraduate and graduate students in CFANS. The tech fees are used, in part, to support CFANS student computer lab facilities, including hardware and software and technology-enhanced learning (TEL) projects. Last year, a portion was used to allow CFANS to increase the size of the Laptop Checkout Program and expand its capabilities, pay licensing fees for Matlab and Mathematica software that can be downloaded onto students' personal computers, and increase the amount of licensed software available to students in the CFANS student computer labs.
Laptop Checkout Program CFANS is happy to offer students a new fleet of Dell laptops with expanded features available for up to one week at no charge from any of three libraries on the St. Paul Campus.
CFANS students may check out a laptop from these CFANS libraries:
- Forestry Library - B50 Skok
- EFW Library - 375 Hodson
- Plant Pathology - 395 Borlaug
