If there are any issues involving the computers in any CFANS Lab, please go to helpdesk.cfans.umn.edu or email cfans.help@umn.edu to submit a trouble ticket. Please be as specific as you can.

General Lab Policies

All of the Computer Labs found within CFANS have common policies governing them along with more specific policies found on their individual websites.

  • Students must have an activated Active Directory Account.  How to activate?
  • Log in with X.500 username and password.
  • Do not damage computer hardware.  You will be held responsible.
  • Do not make copies of any software from the CFANS computer facilities, unless instructed to do so by an IT Staff member.
  • Do not remove software or any data files that you did not create.
  • Do not modify any system configuration or application settings.
  • Do not install any applications without the permission of a CFANS Information Technology Professional.
  • Save all data often and to something other than the local computer.
  • Do not eat or drink in the labs.

Software Available in CFANS Labs

Besides standard software, such as Microsoft Office, CFANS has some specialized software installed for its students.
