| CFANS Lab Software Standard, plus the following:
STATISTICAL AND OPTIMIZATION SOFTWARE Department of Applied Economics
Note: Number in parentheses is number of licenses available. See http://oit.umn.edu/computerlabs/ for more information on the software available in the University’s OIT Public Computer Labs.
ARC V1.06 (16) ARC is a statistical analysis tool for regression problems most commonly used in Stat 5302.
ARCINFO V9.2 (16) ArcInfo provides all the tools to build and manage a complete, intelligent GIS including maps and globes, data, metadata, geodatasets, and workflow models. It includes all the functionality of ArcEditor, ArcView, and ArcReader and adds advanced spatial analysis, extensive data manipulatin, and high-end cartography tools.
EVIEWS V6 (5) Installed on Lab 3, Lab 5, Lab 6, Lab 10 (Grad Lounge) and Waite 2. EViews has estimation, forecasting, statistical analysis, graphics, simulation, data management, all in a powerful, graphical object-oriented interface. It is designed to analyze time series data but can still analyze cross-sectional and panel data.
GAMS 2.50 Distribution 22.8 (16) Unlimited use of Demo version on departmentally-owned & personal computers. The demo version has model and compiler limits:
- Model limits:
- Number of constraints and variables: 300
- Number of nonzero elements: 2000 (of which 1000 nonlinear)
- Number of discrete variables: 50 (including semi continuous, semi integer and member of SOS-Sets)
- Global solver limits:
- Number of constraints and variables: 10
GAMS is a high-level modeling system for linear and mathematical programming problems. It is tailored for complex, large scale modeling applications, and allows you to build large maintainable models that can be adapted quickly to new situations.
JMP V9.0 (16) JMP is the SAS product that dynamically links statistics with graphics
LIMDEP V7.0 (16) Limdep is a general econometrics program for estimating linear and nonlinear regression models and limited and qualitative dependent variable models for cross section, time series and panel data.
MATHEMATICA V 6 (16) Mathematica is the world's only fully integrated technical computing system, combining interactive calculation (both numeric and symbolic), visualization tools, and a complete programming environment.
MATLAB Release R2008a (16) Many toolboxes, including Optimization Toolbox and Statistics Toolbox MATLAB integrates mathematical computing, visualization, and a powerful language to provide a flexible environment for technical computing. It is most commonly used for dynamic programming problems.
R V2.7.1 (16) R is an integrated suite of software facilities for data manipulation, calculation and graphical display. It is a language and environment for statistical computing and graphics. The software provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, ...) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible.
SAS V 9.1.3 (16) SAS software provides the foundation, tools, and solutions for data analysis, report generation, and enterprise-wide information delivery.
STATA/IC (Intercooled) V9.0 (16) Stata is an environment for manipulating and analyzing data using statistical and graphical methods. It is an integrated package, not a collection of separate modules. You can intersperse data management, statistical, and graphical commands and analyze datasets with as many as 2,047 variables.
STATISTIX - Student Edition V9 (16) Statistix is a powerful statistical analysis porogram you can use to quickly analyze your data. This incredibly easy-to-use program offers the basic and advanced statistics you want - plus powerful data maniuplation tools
Note: The Student edition of Statistix is limited to 100 variables and 224 KB of disk space (about 30,000 cells)
