Camtasia: Capture your classes
Record your classes with Camtasia Relay, a software-based class capture
solution that can be used anytime, anywhere, with just a computer and a
microphone. Camtasia Relay allows you to record your voice or other
sounds with a microphone and capture video from your computer screen,
then process the presentation and post it to the MediaMill or to iTunes
U for students to access.

Survey
UMSurvey, a free online
survey tool with support from the University's Office of Information
Technology is now available to faculty, staff, and students. You can
create, implement,and analyze surveys using University templates, with
research consultation from the Digital Media Center. UMSurvey even
allows you to export
the results to SPSS or MS-Excel to perform analysis of the results.
My Account The My Account page is a central location where a user has the capability to change Internet and Enterprise passwords, manage email account settings, such as forwarding, auto reply, and blocked messages, and activate individual UMCal, Active Directory, and NetFiles accounts.

Gopher Messaging Gopher Messaging is a unified messaging system that enhances the ordinary voice mail service available on many University telephones. Gopher Messaging allows you to manage your voice mail from your computer: send and receive voice messages, view incoming faxes, manage your greetings, send text messages to another mailbox, set e-mail and pager notification options, and more.
myU myU Portal is a Web portal offering several interactive tools that you can customize to your needs. Conduct polls, hold online discussions, create fill-out submission forms, manage group tasks, track document revisions, and more. Embedding images and links is simple. myU gives you fine-grained control when deciding which individuals and groups may use the tools and items you create. Netfiles Netfiles is a file storage application with collaboration and sharing features available to all University faculty, staff, and students. In order to use Netfiles, you must first activate your account. Netfiles support is available at http://www1.umn.edu/netfiles/ to help users learn how to use the tool effectively and safely. With Netfiles, you can:
UMCal UMCal is the central calendar system available to faculty, staff, and students for the management of events, tasks, and contacts. You can easily choose to have the calendar display your course schedule, and you can view the schedules of University faculty and staff who use UMCal and suggest meeting times to professors or advisors.
Before you can use UMCal, you must activate your account by choosing Calendar Account Options from the MyAccount page.and following the directions on the page that appears. The desktop client can be downloaded from the UMCal home page, which also contains a wealth of information about using UMCal.
With UMCal, you can:
- Use the web-based client anywhere you have an Internet connection.
- Manage departmental resources such as conference rooms and equipment
- Track group project meeting times and tasks for each group member.
- Determine who can view your calendar and how much information is public.
- Have the calendar display your course schedule
UMCal How To Tips
VPN VPN creates an encrypted, virtual network tunnel between your computer and the University, making your computer look like a part of the University network. VPN is recommended for University wireless connections. When connecting from a non-University Internet provider (ISP), VPN may be needed in order to use certain online systems limited to the University network. Google Initiative The UM Google Initiative is a project to
introduce Google Apps for Education, such as e-mail and calendar, to the
University as an option for faculty, staff, and students.
