These instructions are intended for computers running Windows operating systems. If you are using a Mac, please send a message to cfans.help@umn.edu, and we will help you restore your files.
- Within My Computer or Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder that contains the missing file(s) or folder(s) that you want to restore.
- Right-click on the folder and choose Properties (a window with tabs will open).
- Click on the Previous Versions tab (this can take awhile to display).
- Each instance of the folder bears a timestamp within the last six weeks identifies the backup date and time.
- Open the folder from the date you need, and copy and paste folders and files from it into the original folder (or wherever you like).
If the folder or file cannot be found, please submit a request to cfans.help@umn.edu and provide the following details:
- Your name and Internet ID/x.500 user name
- Name(s) of the folders and/or files missing that need to be restored
- Path to where they were last seen
- The latest date you would like them to be restored from
