| Below are instructions for running the audit tool and sending the result back to your Information Technology Professional. If you have any questions about this procedure, please contact CFANS OIT at cfans.help@umn.edu.
How to run the Audit Tool
- Download the Audit Tool to your usual location.
The file will likely appear either on your desktop or in a "Downloads"
folder depending on the setting within your web browser. It may also
mount automatically and open a finder window displaying the contents of
the file. - Double click the ina_mac file to start the audit process.
- Click "Open" to confirm it is OK to run the Unix script. A new window
titled "Terminal - 80x24" will open and will close when the audit has
finished leaving the Terminal application running.
- "Quit Terminal"
- A new audit file with an extension of .adt has been saved to your home directory (e.g., CFOIT200852686_BQTOG2GW7A8B.adt).
How to send the audit file to CFANS OIT
- Open your preferred e-mail program and compose a new message.
- In the Send To line, fill in cfans.help@umn.edu.
- In the Subject line, fill in CFANS Computer Audit.
- In the body, paste “I have run the CFANS Audit Tool as requested. I am attaching the requested file for your records.”
- Type in your contact information and the location of the computer that was audited.
- Attach the .adt file created in step 6 of “How to run the Audit Tool.”
- Send the message.
