CFANS OIT is happy to announce a joint venture with CLA and the Law School to offer you a new way to get support for your computer regardless of where you may be.
If you have an internet connection, Bomgar can reach you whether you're across campus or around the world. Assistance is available during regular business hours. When you send a request to cfans.help@umn.edu, please provide a phone number and best time to call, so we can coordinate a time to help you remotely.
Benefits of Bomgar remote assistance
- Allows OIT support staff to help you from their desks wherever you are, if you can connect to the internet
- Provides a secure connection between your computer and the computer being used to help you
- Saves travel time and expense
- Saves cost through collaboration with other colleges
How does it work?
- After you've sent a message to cfans.help@umn.edu, you will receive an e-mail directing you to the CFANS Bomgar website for remote assistance, and a phone call from the OIT support person.
- Click on the name of the support person you are working with.
- Download and install a small application for this temporary session.
- A window will appear in which you can grant access to your computer to the support staff person. Granting this access will allow the support staff person to see your screen and move your mouse.
- When the issue is resolved and the session is over, the application installed in step 3 will ask to be removed; please remove it.
